The Synergy Organization has been retained by an internationally respected,
mission driven academic institution to recruit an experienced and dynamic leader
as their Director of Financial Aid. This very competitive and highly respected
higher education organization is consistently ranked nationally in the top 50
universities according to "U.S. News & World Report". Since its
roots dating back to 1824, the university’s highly decorated faculty,
including a Nobel Laureate, has produced some of the nation’s top innovators.
The institution sponsors cutting edge research as evidenced through a
partnership with IBM and New York State to create one of the world’s most
powerful university-based supercomputing centers, and a top 25 supercomputing
center of any kind in the world.
The Director of Financial Aid will have the opportunity to direct all aspects
of the financial aid operations and ensure that students (5,500 undergraduates)
receive maximum awards in a timely manner and that their distribution is in
compliance with state and federal regulations. Working closely with the Vice
President of Enrollment, the Director will package aid to optimize enrollment
while controlling the institutional discount within approved guidelines. Five to
seven years of related and progressively responsible Financial Aid experience
and a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) are required. To achieve
the goals of the Financial Aid Office, the Director will need to remain abreast
of current trends and best practices in the industry.
The successful candidate will bring "Best Practices", a passion for
Financial Aid, unparalleled customer service and the ability to think
strategically while acting tactically. Strong leadership skills and a full
understanding of state and federal regulations are critical in this position.
