Director, Radiation Safety (RSO)

The Synergy Organization has been retained by a well-respected and financially profitable Mid-Atlantic Health System with over 23,000 employees to recruit a Director, Radiation Safety (RSO) for their 609-bed flagship hospital. They are one of the most prestigious medical centers in the Nation and have an affiliation with a well-known Academic Institution, keeping them at the forefront of medical advancements, cutting edge research, and some of the most advanced technology available.  The Hospital has been designated with ‘Magnet’ status, is routinely cited for their top rated physicians, and they were ranked among the “Best in the Nation” by US News & World Report in ten specialties.  The organization has invested significant capital resources in numerous current and upcoming construction and renovation projects. They have also been voted as one of the top places to work in the region and have received the Gold e-healthcare leadership award.  Their Neuroscience department was the first on the East Coast to offer the CyberKnife technology and they are the only NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Care Center in the region. 

In this important position as the Radiation Safety Officer, you will develop and maintain comprehensive Radiation Safety and Medical Laser Safety programs.  This leader is expected to work with a diverse constituency assessing potential risk, educating individuals and proactively devising action plans when necessary to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe environment. The organization is looking for a dynamic professional to develop and implement best practices and ensure the team is focused on achieving a high level of customer service.  This individual will also lead an in-house x-ray and mammography inspection service, facilitate new hire orientation and training related to Radiation Safety, and be an active member of the Radiation Safety Committee, Laser Safety Committee and Institutional Review Board. 

The successful candidate will have a strong sense of values, ethics and integrity, lead by example, and demonstrate a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, energy, and passion.  This professional must be a team player, have a history of building relationships, and effective communication skills.  The position also requires experience working in an Acute Care environment and a thorough understanding of all regulatory guidelines as they relate to both Radiation and Medical Laser Safety.
