The Synergy Organization has been retained by a
nationally recognized and financially strong Mid-Atlantic Health System with
approximately 5,000 employees and 600 physicians to recruit their new Chief
Information Officer (CIO). This
not-for-profit health system operates a Regional Medical Center, which has some
570 beds at two main campuses and over 60 locations.
The System’s specialty departments include a Level II Trauma Center,
Heart Institute, Center for Childbirth, Weight Loss clinic, Cancer Center, and
Joint and Spine Institutes. Other
facilities include four childcare centers, behavioral health facilities, and
urgent care centers. The System also
operates a PPO and offers home health and hospice services.
The System has been the recipient of numerous awards
over the past five years including: the 2009 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
Award; two-time Magnet Award winner; and, Home Care Elite status by OCS for the
past four years. The organization
experienced an 11% compounded annual growth rate between 2000 and 2008 and had
revenues of $700M in 2008. During
the same period, discharges grew from 34,000 to more than 57,000.
The employee loyalty index ranks on the 90th percentile in
national performance levels and had a 2009 turnover rate of only 8.8%.

This highly matrixes organization requires a CIO with well-honed
team-building, collaboration and communications skills.
This experienced leader must be a forward thinking, results-oriented
business partner with broad technical expertise who will build and maintain
strong relationships with the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and others
throughout the organization.
The successful candidate will possess proven
leadership skills, a strong sense of integrity and the ability to function as a
team player. This professional IT
leader must be visible and accessible, a strong relationship builder, and
demonstrate initiative. As a
minimum, this leader will have 10 years experience in a broad range of
information systems and a wide variety of technologies relating to healthcare.
Healthcare experience and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science,
Information Systems Management or a related field are required.
Strong working knowledge of Cerner and/or McKesson is preferred.
