Kenneth R. Cohen, PhD, is the Founder and President of The Synergy Organization. Dr. Cohen established this firm in 1988 to pursue his passions, specialized training and practical experiences as an Organizational Psychologist and Leadership Consultant. After discovering significant gaps and opportunities for improvement within the executive search industry, he has dedicated his career to helping healthcare organizations apply proven science to their executive recruitment and selection practices. He also created the proprietary Synergy Screening System® which simplifies the often challenging task of hiring the right senior executives; this is currently being used as a standard practice by many respected healthcare organizations around the country.
Over the last 20 plus years, Dr. Cohen has helped many of the most progressive acute care hospitals and health systems across the US (including two Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program Award recipients) to recruit, select, develop and retain extraordinary leaders in the most effective and efficient manner. His own demonstrated commitment to Metrics, Quality and Productivity and to providing World Class Service is evidenced by The Synergy Organization's application of the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program Award standards with all of their internal and external business practices.
Dr. Cohen also has been recognized for leading several respected national research studies involving “Best Practices in Healthcare Leadership”. He has conducted many seminars on effective leadership, recruitment, selection, executive development, and retention strategies for many respected healthcare organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the AHA’s Center for Healthcare Governance, and several State Hospital Associations, taught at both the graduate and undergraduate level, and he has written, been published and/or interviewed in professional journals and publications including: "Board Room Press", "Contemporary Long Term Care","Healthcare Executive", "Healthcare Informatics", "Hospitals and Health Networks", "Nursing Homes", "The Wall Street Journal", and "Trustee". He earned his Masters and PhD as a Psychologist with Distinction Honors at Temple University and his Bachelors in Psychology at Dickinson College.
